Hunka, Hunka Burning Love

It is the time of year that fields and woods are burned in this part of the country.

We burned on three sides of the house today. Winds were perfect to carry smoke away from the house and the highway. Far fields and pastures are next.





The white post in the above photo marks an irrigation riser which could be used for putting out fires if needed. We prepare for small outbreaks with 200 gallon water tank on back of the tractor with a pump and hose attached.

I see people doing this every year and it always scares me! But their pastures always look so pretty later.
